clock.jpg Have you ever started the day with great ambitions and then realized at the end that you didn't get anything done? Honing your time management skills can help. Here's a list of eight techniques that will help you achieve a higher degree of control over what you accomplish in a day.

1.Create a To-do List
If you don't keep track of what you want to accomplish, you never will!. A to-do list created at the beginning of each day or at the end of the prior day will help you a lot. The list can include business and personal items and can be put on paper, your workstation, a PDA, etc. Refer to the list several times during the day. For example, if you have 10 minutes before a meeting, glance at your list. There might be an e-mail you wanted to send that would only take 10 minutes. When you complete each item, check it off.

2.Long-term Reminders
Your to-do list isn't going to help you with follow-ups you'll need to remember in the distant future. For instance, you may tell a colleague that you'll follow up with him to check progress in two months. You need to have a way to keep track of this follow-up and to remind yourself two months in the future. Most online calendars have features for reminders. You may even want to create several reminders over multiple days, so that if you miss one, you'll catch it the next day.

3.Write down all Follow Ups
When you tell someone that you will do a particular task then never forget it.But if you will rely only on your memory then you surely will forget it and ultimately will have to face embarrasemnt. So always write down your follow-ups.

4.Must know Due Dates
Always keep track of work that you have given to someone and know when it will be completed keep track of it and once best way to keep track of it is through writing it down!

5.A Clean Desk
A clean desk will get you to concentrate on most important work. Remember one rule:A person with untidy desk is never going to be a good time manager

6.Share your work
Share your work if you can! If you know some one is good at particular job then do seek his help this way you can save a lot of time for other jobs.Man is a social animal so helping others and taking help is always better.

7. Keep all of your current work in one area
You may work on many separate activities and initiatives simultaneously. Keep items you need for these projects organized and accessible. For instance, you might keep all current contracts, project plans, and files for an ongoing volunteer effort in a easy-to-reach file drawer (not scattered between your office, your car, and your desk at home). When you finish a project or initiative, move the folder elsewhere

8.Always Backup your online work
Always backup your data as computers have proved to be very reliable source.you never know when your computer get stuck due to a virus or any else eventuality. So always back up your data so that even if anything happen you have the backup.
